The seniority-biased technological change framework explains a lot. When AI automates entry level tasks, the bar rises and fewer people can enter. But those who do get more interesting work. The challenge is how people get to that first rung.

Indeed, that's a crucial question to which we don't quite know the answer yet I'm afraid. In another conversation with Hans Rusinek, we discussed that today, some students seem to no longer be interested in corporate careers and that AI might also help them monetize their skills even if they lack the experience of a senior consultant. This can be true as well, I believe. In the end, we need many models: Things like an income share agreement to incentivise companies to train juniors and graduates who become entrepreneurs early on in their careers to self-train the skills needed for the job market.
